Rolling Stone’s New List of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time

Im Jahr 2004 stellte der Rolling Stone seine Liste der „500 Greatest Songs of All Time“ vor. Seitdem sind 17 Jahre vergangen, der iPod war relativ neu und es gab kein Streaming, Billie Eilish war drei Jahre alt. Seitdem ist viel Musik veröffentlicht worden, die natürlich auch unweigerlich so eine Liste ändert, die ja nie auf ewig bleiben kann. Deshalb gibt es dort jetzt ein Update. Bei den Platzierungen bis zur 50 hat sich nicht viel getan, denn da sind halt einige Songs auf immer die besten. Beim Rest allerdings hat sich einiges getan in den letzten 17 Jahren. Und ja, mir ist klar, dass das subjektiv betrachtet bei jedem etwas anders aussieht. Den Rolling Stone lasse ich als objektive Fachkompetenz da mal durchgehen.

5.430 Musik-Genres als Streudiagramm im Browser: Every Noise at Once

Ein Wow-Projekt im Browser: bei Every Noise at Once finden sich alle Musik-Genres, die als solche bei Spotify gelistet sind als vorhörbares und verdammt umfangreiches Streudiagramm. Nebst dazugehörigen Playlisten und Pipapo. Mich hat die komplette obere Psy-Trance Einbindung getriggert und ich habe Genres heute kennengelernt, von denen ich gar nicht wusste, dass es diese gibt. 5.430. Alter!

Playing Music While Peaking On LSD – A Piano Improvisation

This video was filmed while I was „peaking“ on LSD.
Back story : September 2016 (I was 23) I was dealing with a break up with my ex and work issues on a daily basis. Then depression came at me for the first time in my life.
After speaking to my family members and my good friends, my mindset was prepared to „make a change“ before having that trip and I felt that it was a good trip helping me to let go of everything that was stopping me to be a better self.

I suppose this piece of music was a reflection of all my emotions scrambled together at that stage. I still remember the pain and emptiness in my gut while playing this random song. But then I felt completely relieved having to express whatever blockage it was in the performance.

I turned on my piano, closed my eyes and just let it flow. Surprisingly a song came out.

Ps. I am a classically trained piano player so improvising has never been my thing.

This is a topic that I’ve wanted to do for a long time and I’m glad I finally got around to it. Whether we’re talking about The Shaggs, Wesley Willis, B.J. Snowden, Eilert Pilarm, Shooby Taylor, Gary Wilson, R. Stevie Moore, Tiny Tim, Luie Luie, Daniel Johnston, or whoever else — this category of music is all about originality/authenticity. These musicians and artists aren’t the most polished in the world, but they make up for it with passion and creativity. Open your mind up, go down the rabbit hole of outsider music, and have a good time!

Ein Freund von mir behauptete mal, dass man sich im Alter um die 30 in seinen musikalischen Vorlieben festfährt und diese dann nicht mehr ändern würde. Ich habe das aus meiner Sicht komplett abgestritten, weil das schon damals nicht auf mich zutraf und ich die 30 schon längere Zeit vorher genommen hatte.

Eine vom Streamingdienst Deezer in Auftrag gegebene Studie aber bestätigt jetzt die damalige Behauptung meines Freundes. Hat er wohl Recht gehabt.
