Wenn ihr drei Stunden Zeit und Bock aus Entschleunigung haben solltet, lehnt ecuh zurück und schaut Martijn Doolaard dabei zu wie ein Jahr lang zwei Steinhütten im italienischen Piemont renoviert hat. Das nämlich ist deutlich interessanter als die Idee dazu erstmal klingen mag.

I’m one year in building a homestead in these two stone barns at this plot of land in the mountains in Piedmont, Italy. The first months I focused on the electricity, water connection and creating comfortable space to live on the land, whilst I was waiting for the building permit.

Sich aus Palettenholz eine Mini-Hütte in den Wald bauen

Aktuell vielleicht kein Thema für euch oder mich, aber man weiß ja nie, was noch kommen wird. Vielleicht kann diese Idee irgendwann mal nützlich sein. Spätestens dann, wenn der Baumarkt halt mal kein Holz mehr im Angebot haben sollte. Oder so.

To begin with, we started to break the pallets down into useable timber to build the foundations and the frame of the cabin. For the roof we used recycled tin from an old barn roof. We then used an old garden shed window and fit this to the western wall of the cabin. Once the framework and structure of the cabin was complete, we began to some pallet wood projects and focused on building furniture for the inside of the cabin.

We cooked our food over fire using a tripod lashed together bushcraft style until we installed the woodstove. Then we used cast iron cooking gear and the oven to cook up bigger meals. We learned many building skills on this project and it was great to build with hand tools.

Künstler macht aus einer ollen Garage ein leicht schrulliges Wohlfühl-Zuhause

Der Künstler und Bühnenbildner Tony Hornecker hat vor 15 Jahren eine leere und gar nicht mal so schöne Garage unter seine Fittiche genommen und sich dazu entschlossen, daraus etwas Heimeliges entstehen zu lassen. Mittlerweile hat er ein Apartment, in dem das Licht durch das Dach scheint, Disko-Kugeln von der Decke baumeln und in dem eine Küche, ein DJ-Pult und ein kleines U-Boot Platz haben. Schon sehr, sehr kuschelig.

The 43-year-old has managed to totally transform the dingy living space into a topsy-turvy wonderland that features the likes of a glitter ball from a Kylie Minogue tour and a baby’s diaper that hangs from the ceiling. Tony’s previous work has been displayed at The Royal College of Art and The Royal Opera House – but he remains most fond of the magical world he has created at home. The decorated artist began his work on the garage 15 years ago and continues to change up the themed rooms to this day.

Mann baut sich alleine eine Hütte in den Wald

Ohne die Nutzung von irgendwelchen maschinellen Werkzeugen hat sich Shawn James eine ordentliche Hütte in einen Wald in Kanada gebaut. Was wohl Monate dauerte, hat er hier in ein Zeitraffer gepackt.

At the beginning of the video, I show a winter drone photo of the cabin in the snow in December. Then I flashback to the first balsam fir tree I cut down with a saw and axe near the cabin. I drag the trees into place and clear the cabin site. All summer, I cut the notches in the logs as I built the cabin up, offsite. Once I was finished notching the logs with a log scribe, saw, axe, adze and wood carving gouge, I loaded up the entire cabin of logs and moved them to my land near Algonquin Park, Ontario Canada.

Kleine Häuser für schmale Taler

Joshua Woodsman ist Architekt und hat einen Faible für kleine Häuser, für sehr kleine Häuser. Er ist der Meinung, dass Wohnraum nicht zwangsläufig sonderlich ausufernd gestaltet werden muss und entwickelt so jede Menge kleiner Häuser. Von diesen verkauft er Pläne, in denen er die Baustoffe und Kosten dafür kalkuliert. Die Kosten für diese Pin Up Houses variieren zwischen $690.00 und über $30.000.

Dann fehlt nur noch der Platz und hierzulande eine Baugenehmigung. Einen Hurrikan überstehen die Hütten sicher nicht, Wasser und Klo muss separat geklärt werden, aber hübsche Buden auf kleinstem Raum sind das allemal.

Zwei Baumhäuser, eine Badewanne mit Feuer und ein Skate Bowl im Wald: The Cinder Cone

Im letzten Frühjahr began Foster Huntington mit ein paar Freunden in Skamania County, Washington, damit, in einem Wald am Berghang ein Domizil für sich zu schaffen. Direkt in der Columbia River Gorge begannen sie, sich zwei Baumhäuser, eine Skate Bowl und sich einen Badezuber zu bauen, der mit Holz beheizt wurde. Das Projekt begleiteten sie auf ihrer Seite und auf Instagram (Superschön!). Die Aufnahmen sind für mobile Naturromantiker die reinste Wonne.

Jetzt ist the Cinder Cone fertig. Dieses Video zeigt die traumhafte Konstellation im Herzen der Natur.

Ja, ich weiß, dass sich Container auch verbinden lassen, so dass man eben aus mehreren einen großen machen kann. Auf den Baustellen, auf denen ich solche Konstruktionen betreten habe, sah von innen allerdings keine so gut aus, wie die hier. Hat dann die Größe eines ordentlichen Bungalows und sieht sehr wohnlich aus. Keine Ahnung, was das in der Umsetzung so kostet.
