Mal wieder wirklich schöne Aufnahmen der 56. ISS-Expedition, die uns mal wieder daran erinnern, dass wir keinen zweiten Planeten im Kofferraum haben, den wir rausholen können, wenn der hier komplett im Arsch ist. Und vielleicht sieht der mittlerweile halt auch nur noch von da oben so erhaben, so wunderschön und so erhaltenswert aus.

Wunderschöne Spielerei, die Pavel Dobryakov da gebastelt hat. Erinnert mich noch mehr an bunte Rauchbomben als an irgendwelche Flüssigkeiten, was aber egal ist. Besonders schön auf einem mobilen Device.

Vor Jahren hatte ich hier mal einen Film von Toby Harriman im Blog. Seitdem habe ich von ihm nicht mehr gesehen, was wohl mehr an mir als an ihm liegt, denn er macht generell ziemlich geiles Zeug. So auch sein Video „The Block Tower“, dass die Häuserwände Hong Kongs aus Drohnenperspektiven zeigt. Erinnert nicht wenig an Koyanisquatsi.
Hong Kong is one of the most densely populated areas in the world, with an overall density of an estimated 6,300 people per square kilometer.
So to start off a 3.5-week trip a before heading to Southeast Asia, we stopped in Hong Kong for 4 days to see the area and visit Kowloon. This was our bigger stop, before heading into the quiet country. For years I have seen pictures of these public housing/apartment tower blocks being built and knew that was something I wanted to see and document for myself. Rather than just creating stills from these, I went with the goal of taking abstract videos and displaying them more like art, showing off their true scale. This was just a quick trip and a little bit of a scout. I can’t wait to go back and keep documenting these.

Sehr schönes Video, das Nick Cobby für Max Coopers „Perpetual Motion“ gebastelt hat. Luftaufnahmen, gemischt mit allerhand Glitch. Und der Track geht sowieso klar.
„Max’s idea for Perpetual Motion was to document the continuous movement of people, exploring how there is no inherent meaning in life, only our own meaning which we create through striving towards our goals. When we discussed the idea of the film, Max and I felt Mexico City was the perfect place to use as a canvas. A sprawling metropolis of 9 million people, all packed in tight and some really interesting land forms and architecture. I then got the idea of using drones when scouting for locations on Google Earth. There were some amazing geometric forms that when viewed from above give an entirely different perspective of the city. I was really interested in the juxtaposition of these orderly forms with the irregular, disorderly chaos confined within it. For me it really helped push the idea of living as part of a perpetual system. I collaborated with 3 very talented Mexican photographers who shot some incredible footage for me, Manuel Marañón, Roberto H and Santiago Arau. It was a pleasure to collaborate with them and I hope the film can be shown in Mexico some time soon. For the animation side, I collaborated with Andy Lomas and Jessica In, integrating their forms frame by frame into the drone footage with my own point data, aiming to create unexpected transitions and connections between reality, hyper realism and the hidden systems beneath.“

Neues und wieder sehr schönes Augenzuckervideo von Rus Khasanov, den ich samt seiner experimentellen Farbkunstwerke hier schon des Öfteren mal hatte.
A couple of months later, as a result of experiments with various ingredients, I found an easy and stable way for the paint balls to be attracted to each other, merged and not burst. When you master the technique, you can already playfully turn the flaws into advantages: now in the bursting paint ball I see not a nightmare, but a bright colorful explosion which reminds me of fireworks.
Also in this video, the bokeh effect plays a major role. Some people reproach me that my work is not sharp, and that I shoot with a small depth of field, but I never saw this as a problem, but on the contrary, I see this as beauty.

Shaggy FPV mit seiner Drohne und jeder Menge Skills über Gudvangen, Norwegen.
Norway is beautiful. Amazing steep rock walls, fjords, glaciers and beautiful waterfalls around every corner. Here’s just one of the many lines I did during my holiday there. I passed this spot two times during a stay nearby and just had to stop next to the road and send a few packs! I think it worked out nicely. Location was Gudvangen, waterfall is named Kjelfossen.

Das Aquarien eine entspannende Wirkung nachgesagt wird, ist jetzt nichts Neues, dass die Dinger allerdings Arbeit machen, ist ebenso bekannt. Mit diesem Video kann man sich auch ohne die dazugehörige Arbeit entspannen – und das in 4K-Optik. Ich gucke dann mal den Fischies zu.
