Sehr schöne Episode aus Artes „The Rise of Graffiti Writing“, die sich einzig dem Berlin der 90er Jahre widmet. Der Zeit, in der ich Graffiti lieben lernte. Und da sind dann all die ganzen Namen, die mich damals bei meinen täglichen Fahrten durch Berlin mit ihren Farben und ihren Styles faszinierten. Da werde ich glatt ein bisschen nostalgisch.

Und natürlich waren es dann wirklich Rocco und seine Brüder, die im Schacht der Berliner U9 ein Büro für die CDU installiert haben

Alles andere wäre auch ziemlich anders gewesen, aber nach diesem Insta-Beitrag von Rocco samt seiner Brüder dürfte klar sein, dass diese aktuell urbane Kunstinstallation in Berlin von genau ihnen kommen dürfte. Sollte. Muss.

The party is being out-gentrified from their very own national office, as they are no longer able to come up with their rent. The discovery by BVG worker Norbert Schmidt in a tunnel of Berlin’s U9 metro line accordingly comes as no surprise. At exactly the same spot where four years earlier the BVG has evicted a young collective of artists, one can now find a new and fully furnished office space. When she opened her favorite newspaper this morning, Petra Nelken, press officer of BVG, was so shocked about the freshly publicised photos of the office that she dropped her coffee over her Leberwurstsandwich.“

Und dann wundere ich mich halt kurz ein bisschen darüber, dass die Hinweise dazu erst an Berliner Medien gehen müssen, um letztendlich bei der BVG anzukommen. Aber die stecken wahrscheinlich ein Teil ihres Geldes lieber ohnehin in Social-Media-Agenturen, die darüber lachen machen sollen, dass vieles nichts funktioniert, als sich genau darüber ärgern zu dürfen. Oder so. Rocco und sein Brüder haken da ganz subtil nochmal nach.

Ein Weihnachtsbaum auf zwei Beinen, der in New York U-Bahn fährt

Der Straßenkünstler Tommy Liberto hat sich in seiner Heimatstadt auf den Weg gemacht, um als Mr. Christmas Tree durch das Land und nach New York zu reisen. Dort will er die Menschen, wie jedes Jahr, zum Lächeln zu bringen. In diesem Outfit sollte ihm das ohne weiteres gelingen.

Banksy in Birmingham

Banksy hat in Birmingham ein Mural gemalt, das wohl daran erinnern will, dass es auch zu Weihnachten Menschen gibt, für die es nicht selbstverständlich ist, ein Dach über dem Kopf zu haben.

God bless Birmingham.
In the 20 minutes we filmed Ryan on this bench passers-by gave him a hot drink, two chocolate bars and a lighter – without him ever asking for anything.

Großartiges Mural, das Graffiti Artist BiP in San Francisco auf eine ziemlich große Hauswand gebracht hat. Hier gibt es mehr Fotos davon.

my new mural for San Francisco. for the people that want the story of how this image was created—I carried this piece in the back of my head for years. I kept practicing putting an adult expression on a child not really able to nail it, until I understood the image itself was about contrast and internal disagreement. when I made that understanding, I threw my old color studies and rebuilt the painting out of direct contrasts to echo that confliction. so in this image you’ll find: sunlight vs. darkness, real vs. imaginary, infant vs. adult, confusion vs. resolve, innocence vs. guilt, feminine vs. masculine, dangerous vs. toy, fate vs. free choice. and in the handling of the painting. organic vs. inorganic textures, saturated vs. unsaturated colors, and warm vs. cool hues in extremes.
