Eine kleine, freie Bibliothek in einem über 100 Jahre alten Baumstamm

Eine Familie in Idaho machte aus einem 100 Jahre alten Pappelbaumstumpf, der vor ihrem Grundstück steht, eine Little Free Library, die dort passenderweise “Little Tree Library” heißt. Little Free Library ist ein gemeinnütziges Programm existiert in 88 Ländern mit über 75.000 registrierten Little Free Libraries. Familienoberhaupt Sharalee Armitage Howard ist Bibliothekarin und hat früher Buchbinderei studiert, ist also zweifelsohne vom Fach.

She spearheaded the complex installation on her front lawn, including dentils that, upon closer inspection, are actually miniature books complete with titles. The Library also features interior and exterior lighting, to give the space an extra-homey glow, as well as a “roof” over the top of the stump to help prevent its weathering away.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

The Little Free (Tree) Library

This is an awesome project.

A Coeur d'Alene artist found a unique way to repurpose an old and decaying tree in her front yard.

She's turned the tree's stump into a Little Free Library. It's a free book exchange designed to encourage reading.

A Facebook post from the woman has since been shared close to 30,000 times!
