Marvin Gaye/Mos Def-Mashup Album, die Nächste: Yasiin Gaye: The Return (Side Two)

Nachdem mich das letzte Marvin Gaye/Mos Def-Mashup Album im März so dermaßen klatschte, legt Soul Mates jetzt nach und hat die nächste Verschmelzung der beides Sounds auf Albumlänge zum kostenfreien Download ins Netz gepumpt. Und das ist kein bisschen schlechter. So viel Soul, der auf so viel jazzigen HipHop trifft. Außerdem geht Soul Mates hierfür auch etwas näher auf die Rolle Marvin Gayes als Produzent ein. Toll! Läuft hier erstmal mindestens bis Morgen.

„I wanted to build this side from more of Marvin’s original production work. He was doing a lot of what we do now, in terms of looping and pulling samples from other pre-recorded sessions decades before hip-hop made it common practice to do so. This also gave me the room to feature other artist [Chuck Berry, The Temptations, Talib, etc.] and re-present those classic Mos [Def] verses in a new context.“
